Description
This class is for student aged 8 years and up.
While knitting involves 2 needles, crochet is done with a hook held in one hand and the technique can be picked up quite quickly.
During class students will learn the foundation stitches of single, double, half double and learn how to crochet into the front/back loop. Students will also learn how to increase and decrease stitch counts and how to begin reading patterns and crochet charts. As students' progress through the program, they will continue to build on the basic stitches while advancing their skills with new projects.
Beginner Students:
If your child is coming in with limited crochet experience or needs reinforcement on the basics of crochet, they will need to start with a square swatch learning chain stitch, single crochet, increase and decrease. Once the student feels comfortable with these basic stitches, then students will be encouraged to try a simple amigurumi (stuffed animal) or a simple granny square before moving on to more advanced projects!
All materials are included.
Advanced Beginner / Intermediate Students:
If your child has gone through the beginner stages and has more advanced abilities, then students will have a choice between amigurmi (stuffed animal), more intricate granny square patterns, bags, or garment items like a scarf or beanie.
