At Urban Sewciety, we believe sewing is more than just a skill — it’s a creative outlet, a form of self-expression, and a way to bring people together. Since opening our doors in the heart of Westfield, New Jersey, we’ve built a vibrant, inclusive space where makers of all ages and skill levels can learn, shop, connect, and create.
Urban Sewciety is owned by Megan Whitney and Meg Bulthaupt, aka The Megans. What began in 2015 as a cozy studio space in downtown Westfield with just six sewing machines has grown to what it is today - a full service fabric shop with a 3,500 square foot classroom. Urban Sewciety has the most extensive sewing educational program on the east coast, with classes for kids and adults offered seven days a week for all skill levels. Sewists can choose from our extensive selection of quilting, garment making, and bag making classes and more.
Meg and Megan love sharing the joy of sewing — with local makers through hands-on classes, and now with other creative entrepreneurs by offering a ready-to-use curriculum for teaching sewing in communities everywhere. Curricula available at Sewcietykids.com and StudioMSquared.shop.
