Learn applique, reverse applique and embroidery in one project! Join Nancy in the studio to make a unique basket featuring fun and stylish embellishments - all customized by you!
Skills learned in this 3-week class include applique, reverse applique, piecing and hand-sewing. This is a great, customizable project to practice your sashiko and embroidery stitches on. This class is suitable for intermediate level students - students must be able to confidently thread and operate a sewing machine, and should be comfortable with basic handstitching. Prior embroidery experience is helpful, but not required.
Required Materials:
- (1) Handout: Applique Basket by Nancy Plominski - included in class!
- main fabric + handles: 1/4 yd of denim or canvas
- lining fabric: 1/4 yd of cotton, canvas, or linen
- assorted small fabric scraps for piecing - cotton, lawn, or linen
- 1/4 yd of Pellon 987F
- 1/8 yd of Heat n' Bond Lite
- 1/8 yd of Peltex 71F
- 1 or more skeins of embroidery floss - available to purchase in the shop!
- (1) spool each of polyester thread to match the main and lining fabrics
