Description

Skill Level: Intermediate | Guest Instructor: Diana Li Fitzgerald

Sashiko stitching has been growing in popularity in recent years and we understand why!  It's a versatile and calming craft with a rich history, offering both functional and aesthetic benefits to your home sewn projects.

Special guest instructor Diana Li Fitzgeraldowner of Banjoflannel, will be here in our studio to teach you her signature Patchwork Sashiko technique.  Diana has taught her method all over the country, including at QuiltCon!

In this workshop, students will learn how to transform fabric scraps into a beautiful new textile.  Diana’s Patchwork Sashiko method is a unique mash-up of different slow stitching and patchwork techniques.  You’ll start with a stack of scraps and create a pliable piece of unique patchwork fabric to be used in whatever way you like.  Please note:  Students will use a sewing machine for basting, so machine experience is necessary.

This class is suitable for intermediate level students who can confidently thread and operate a sewing machine independently.

Required Materials:

  • (1) Kit: Patchwork Sashiko - included in the registration cost and will be provided to you the day of class - includes fabric scraps and all other materials needed
