The Stateside Pillow features three stars on the front panel that coordinate with the backing fabric and 11 stripes of accent fabric behind the stars. This festive pillow is easily customizable for all ages and seasons of the year! We encourage our students to get creative with their fabric selections to really make this pillow stand out from the rest in your home. This is a great project to use up some fabrics from your fabric stash!
The first class will consist of cutting your fabric and deciding on the patchwork layout, leaving the second class for pillow construction and completion. This 2-week class is suitable for confident beginner to intermediate students who have prior sewing experience. Students must be able to confidently thread and operate a sewing machine independently.
Required Materials:
- (1) Project Kit: Stateside Pillow - includes everything you need to make the pillow!
Alternatively, if you do not wish to purchase a Project Kit, you will need:
- (1) Pattern: Stateside Pillow by Studio M Squared
- 1/2 yard for Fabric A (stars and pillow backing)
- 1/4 yard for Fabric B (star background)
- (1) fat eighth for Fabric C (light blue stripes)
- (3) fat eighths for Fabrics D, E + F (pink, orange, green stripes)
- 1/4 yard of Heat n' Bond Lite
- 1/4 yd of Pellon 806 Stitch n' Tear Stabilizer
- (1) 16" tall x 27" wide piece of batting
- (1) 16" tall x 27" wide piece of muslin
- (1) 12" x 22" pillow insert
- (1) spool of coordinating thread
Recommended Fabric:
- We suggest using quilting cotton or linen.
