Description
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate
Class Dates: Saturdays, September 19, October 17 + 24, November 7 + 14 - 10am-2pm
- Please Note: This is a 5-week course; there are breaks in between classes and homework may be assigned during these breaks if needed
Are you a Quilting 101 grad or advanced beginner quilter looking for your next skill-building quilt project? Join us in the studio where you will make the beautiful quilt top of the Ryan's Sampler Quilt by Lavender Lime.
Ryan's Sampler features six distinct sampler blocks, allowing you to dive into a wide variety of piecing skills without getting overwhelmed by repetition. The pattern focuses on custom geometric settings, nine-patch variations and flying geese techniques. It is the perfect class for quilters wanting to expand their technical skills, play around with fabric placement, and add structural variety to their stitching. We've made our shop sample in the beautiful "Spruce" collection by Art Gallery Fabrics - kits are available in the shop to purchase if you want to recreate the same look!
Class Breakdown:
- Students will meet for the first class on Saturday, September 19th to cut and prepare all of the fabric needed for the quilt top. Classes 2, 3, and 4 will consist of block assembly and sewing, leaving the fifth class for piecing it all together.
- For the first class (cutting), please bring (6) 1-gallon Ziplock bags so you can keep your fabric for each block organized and together. (Or bring any other storage container - project bags, acrylic cases, etc).
- Please Note: Students will only make the quilt top in this class, leaving the quilting and binding to be completed at home or in one of our Quilting Lab classes.
This class is structured to expand your quilting skills learned in Quilting 101, all while creating a beautiful holiday quilt. It makes a thoughtful handmade gift to give to a loved one this holiday season! Skills learned in this class include accurate cutting, precision piecing, block assembly, and practicing your half square triangle and flying geese techniques. Students must be comfortable using a rotary cutter and a Stripology XL Ruler.
