Description
Skill Level: Intermediate
Class Dates: Tuesdays, January 5, 12 + 19 - 6:30pm-8:30pm
Turn your favorite scraps into a striking statement piece of home decor! In this class, students will sew the gorgeous Maypole Pillow by Suzy Quilts. This bold, minimalistic, and sleek design looks complex but comes together surprisingly fast, making it the perfect project for advanced beginner to intermediate level students.
This class includes a bonus skill - learning how to do sashiko-style quilting on our Janome Skyline S6 machines. This beautiful quilting adds a finishing touch to your pillow that looks like it was hand-quilted, but in a fraction of the time and with much more consistent results.
The pillow is comprised of four large triangle blocks joined together by a single piece of sashing, finished with an envelope back. During class, students will master the art of angled and precision strip piecing and learn how to execute perfect sashiko stitching, all while making a beautiful 18" x 18" quilted pillow cover. This project is an excellent way to use up scrap fabrics, your favorite fat quarter bundle, or festive holiday prints.
This class is suitable for intermediate level students who have prior quilting experience and can confidently use a rotary cutter. Graduates of our Quilting 101 class or those with an equivalent experience level are encouraged to give this pillow a go!
