Class Session: Saturdays, March 7 + 14 - 10am-2pm
In this 2-part class, students will learn Canadian smocking techniques to make a 12" round ruched pillow. The majority of this class will be hand-sewing; however, some machine sewing will be done as well - students must be comfortable independently operating a sewing machine.
Please note, depending on progress made in first class, some homework may be require between classes.
Required Materials
- (1) Handout: Ruched Pillow by Katelyn Vanhise - included in cost of class!
- (1) Supply Kit: includes the hand-sewing needle, darning needle, (2) buttons and (1) 12" round pillow form - kit will be available in the shop prior to class!
- 5/8 yd of 45" wide fabric or 1/2" yd fabric of 54" wide fabric
- (1) spool of coordinating thread
Recommended Fabrics:
- We suggest using quilting cotton (or similar weight woven fabric) for this project. Canvas, flannel, knits, or denim are not recommended.
Required Tools:
- (1) 6" x 24" acrylic ruler
