Ready to tackle zippers? We've made it very simple to get started and conquer installing zippers with this complete step-by-step guide with lots of photos! First, follow the instructions for the flat rectangular pouch, then tackle a boxed bottom version.Once you've gained confidence, you can make pouches in any size you like - just modify the fabric dimensions and the length of your zipper!

Finished Dimensions:
- Small Pouch: 7"(17.8cm) wide x 5"(12.7cm) tall
- Large Pouch: 9"(22.9cm) wide at top, 6-1/2"(16.5cm) wide at bottom, 5-1/2" (14cm) tall x 2"(5.1cm)deep
Required Materials:
- (1) FQ or 1/4 yd for main fabric
- (1) FQ for accent fabric
- (1) FQ or 1/4 yd for lining fabric
- 1 yd of Pellon SF101 or Pellon 911FF
- (1) 7" zipper*
- (1) 9" zipper*
**About Zippers: We highly recommend #4.5 handbag zippers for beginners. These have a wider tape, making them easier to install. All-purpose zippers (size #2 or #3) have a narrower zipper tape.
Recommended Materials:
- We recommend using quilting weight cotton or similar.
- We use fusible interfacing to add stiffness and structure to the bag. If you are using a heavier fabric, such as home decorator weight or canvas, you may want to eliminate the fusible interfacing.
