The Simple Star - by Studio M Squared 

The Simple Star is a simple, but stunning quilt, making it beginner friendly but also perfect for seasoned quilters who need a quick finish! With finished dimensions of approximately 48” x 48”, it’s the ideal size for a baby gift, wall hanging, or accent throw for your decor. Instructions include clear, easy-to-read directions and diagrams for sewists who are new to quilting. 

Finished size: 47-1/2” x 47-1/2”.

When choosing fabrics for the quilt top, keep in mind that in order for the star to stand out and be the focus, the (8) fabrics that you choose for the star should contrast with the fabric(s) you choose for the background from a color perspective. 

Material Requirements:

++All yardage amounts are given for 44” wide fabric. 

• Star Fabrics: (8) fat quarters or (8) 3/8 yard cuts

• Background Fabrics: (8) fat quarters or (8) 3/8 yard cuts 

( Alternatively, if using one fabric for the entire background, you’ll need one yard) 

• Border Fabric: 1/2 yard 

• Binding Fabric: 3/8 yard 

• Backing Fabric: 3-1/4 yard

• Cotton Batting: 1 package of twin size batting - at least 54” x 54” (we like Warm & Natural)

• Thread: 1 spool 50 weight Aurifil (for piecing), 1 spool 40 weight (for quilting) 

++Note: for our cover sample, we used eight fat quarters for the background but repeated four different fabrics twice.
