This foot has a single hole to allow sewing a straight stitch on lightweight fabrics.  Reduces skipped stitches, annd helps eliminate fabric from being pushed down into the needle plate.  Use only with the straight stitch in the center needle position.  

Improve results even more by using the straight stitch needle plate in conjunction with the straight stitch foot.
